How Much Blogs Earns from Google Adsense?

In this Article

Publishers who just get started with AdSense ask me this as often as people who already use it and want to know how well they are doing. How much can I earn with AdSense? Let me try to answer this with some numbers.

What is important to earn money with Google AdSense?

The answer to how much AdSense finally pays you depends on many variables, but they all combine into one question:
Does your blog attract visitors who are eager to spend money?
The more your visitor is a potential “customer”, the more eager he is to click on an ad and the more an advertiser is willing to spend on the ad. If you understand this, you will also see, why the differences between the following income benchmarks are so large.

Examples for AdSense earnings from $0.25 to $50

Neither Google Adsense nor most publishers like to publish detailed numbers on how much they earn.

However, thanks to the broad variety of publishers who hire me to help them I know the benchmarks for different types of websites. I can also combine them with the few public income reports shared by some publishers to give you my view of site categories in terms of income potential with AdSense.

In the following examples, I already summed up the 3 rich media banners you are allowed to use. Of course, your income is also highly dependent on the size and placements of the ads, but you will see there is a wide range of income possibilities.

$0.25 – $3 RPM for unspecific, generic content

When you are running a forum, social network, or directory of non-business information, chances are your AdSense income might not jump over $3 per 1000 page impressions. This is due to either ad blindness of returning visitors or information, that isn’t connected with products and won’t attract visitors eager to buy anything.

$1 – $10 RPM for content-rich sites, e.g. blogs

Content-rich sites like blogs should perform better with AdSense. How much AdSense pays does still depend on your niche and how you implement the ads, but a high frequency of new visitors and placements close to the main content will lead to a decent income.

$10 and a lot more for product-related sites

This is no surprise. If you are running a product-related website, like a blog about products and services, review products, or a business directory, your income from AdSense should be the highest. But don’t think you are the first to have this idea ?

Pat Flynn shared an impressive number to have earned about $48 per 1000 visits in one month. This is a very respectable number.

What to do now?

Many of you might now be thinking of leaving your current hobby blog and starting a website with product information to earn more money from AdSense. Stop for a minute and rethink your monetization strategy. Maybe it is just AdSense that doesn’t fit you and your content. Or maybe you should check your banner performance and can earn more by activating the best blog hosting environment like we did and you can find more information here
